Italian Knight - Wood Sculpture - Inspired by Venice

Italian Knight by Robert Wydock - Woodcarving Illustrated

(Venice, Italy) Time for a little nepotism.

This is my Uncle Bob's most recent wooden sculpture, Italian Knight. It was inspired by his trip to Italy this past summer after he saw the famous statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni in Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo, and featured in Woodcarving Illustrated magazine.

The wood is black walnut, and at least 30 years old, finished with linseed oil and wax.

  1. Wow! Such a triumphant work of art! Compliments to your Uncle Bob, Cat! I love this piece. Excellent choice of wood BTW, not so easy to carve. Wonderfully done.

  2. Thanks, JP, for your kind words, which I passed on to my uncle. He was especially pleased since you are in the Biz.

    Ciao,
    Cat
